Description Snippet
Rare grad role inside a top-tier Sydney investment firm. Build their AI & tech function from the ground up. No playbook. Just opportunity.
Full Description
About the opportunity
One of Australia's most respected boutique investment managers is looking for a graduate to build their technology and AI capability from scratch. This is a newly created role - no predecessor, no inherited system, no status quo to maintain. You'll identify the problems and build the solutions yourself, working alongside one of the most collaborative investment teams in the market.
The firm has nearly two decades of strong performance, manages significant capital, and runs a tight, high-quality team. What they don't have yet is a dedicated technology function. That's the opportunity.
What you'll be responsible for
Designing and building automated reporting and presentation systems - connecting data sources so client-ready outputs are generated automatically, eliminating manual production work
Setting up and maintaining the firm's cloud infrastructure, including Microsoft 365 and SharePoint - clean directories, organised data flows, everything connected
Building and maintaining financial models and databases that support the investment team's day-to-day decisions
Supporting operations across client communications, marketing materials, and business workflows - wherever technology can remove friction
What you'll need
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Finance, or related field
Proficiency in Python - you've used it to actually build something
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with structured data
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 / SharePoint
Genuine interest in financial markets and investment management
High initiative - you identify problems and start solving them without being asked
Highly regarded
Power Automate or similar workflow automation tools
SQL or database experience
Azure or cloud platform exposure
Prior experience in financial services
The environment
Small, senior team. Highly collaborative culture - polite, collegiate, low ego. Your work will be visible from day one. LinkedIn Learning and structured development support available.
