Machine Learning Team Lead

We are seeking an experienced Machine Learning Team Lead (MLOps / Machine Learning) to drive the design, delivery, and ongoing operation of production AI solutions in a cloud-based environment. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will guide a small team while working closely with software, data, and business stakeholders to ensure AI systems are reliable, scalable, secure, and delivering real-world impact. Important: This is not a traditional DevOps or API-based AI role. We are specifically seeking candidates with hands-on experience building and training machine learning models , and taking them end-to-end through development, production deployment, and ongoing performance optimisation. Candidates with only DevOps, cloud engineering, or AI API experience are not suited to this role. You will lead the delivery of AI and machine learning solutions across the full lifecycle — from model development and training through to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement in production. Key Responsibilities Lead end-to-end AI and machine learning delivery into production Build, train, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models Define and embed MLOps standards and responsible AI practices Monitor model performance, accuracy, and data drift Architect and maintain scalable ML pipelines and data workflows Improve model performance through real-world feedback loops Act as the primary technical contact for AI initiatives Mentor and guide a small technical team Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders What You’ll Bring 3+ years’ experience in AI/ML production environments Hands-on experience building and training machine learning models (not just APIs) Strong understanding of model performance, accuracy, and generalisation Proven experience taking models from development to production Strong Python skills Experience with Azure and Docker Solid understanding of MLOps, CI/CD, and data engineering workflows Experience mentoring or leading technical team members Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills �� Apply via SEEK or contact Tony at ton•@grittalent.com or 04•• ••• 522 for a confidential discussion.
